The master branch is fine

The push to rename master to main in git seems to me to another one of those initiatives driven by bureaucratic busybodies more than a genuine, organic, grassroots transition. I am naturally inclined against the policing of language in the name of political correctness.

In the end, this particular battle doesn't matter much. I even think there is a good argument that "master" is a misnomer anyway. But I think the act of hunting for things to convince people they should be offended by is worse than useless. It is actively wasteful of resources.

Often, the people engaging in these fool's errands are also the same people who think you don't deserve the right to allocate your own resources. The irony is strong. Work hard so you can pay taxes so busybodies can imagine new anti-productive obligations for the productive actors. Only then will we live in a utopia.
